Sports Science building for Liverpool John Moores University										Liverpool John Moores University appointed Ainsley Gommon Architects to design new accommodation for the University’s highly rated Sports Science department.   Sited in a prominent inner city campus position, the client required a building that offered a high standard of fitness and research environment for both staff and community use.   The proposals provide large open plan fitness suites, a large glazed cafeteria/entrance space, changing rooms and refurbished office accommodation.   The project has overhauled two functional office buildings and replacing old single storey buildings that face onto existing University open space.   The building provides a new social hub for the sports science department. Additional social areas provide an open, welcoming entrance and gathering spaces whilst improving the standard of formal office areas throughout both existing buildings.   The project was completed in September 2007 at a cost of £1.2 million.
