Ainsley Gommon volunteers help to build their own design

Ainsley Gommon are the architects for the Liverpool Habitat for Humanity, sited in Toxteth, Liverpool. This is an innovative design, which is simple to build for largely volunteer labour, producing houses for people on low incomes.  All Ainsley Gommon Birkenhead office staff have recently been volunteering to help on site and have been involved in various aspects of the build. All have thoroughly enjoyed the hands on experience.

Liverpool Habitat for Humanity is part of Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit, interdenominational Christian housing and community development charity.  Local people, with a concern for their city, founded LHFH. It has received a generous donation of 2.2 acres of land from the Liverpool Archdiocese on Kingsley Road in Granby. LHFH intends to build 32 houses on the site. This project will directly benefit approximately 120 individuals; yet will have a far wider impact by involving over 3,000 volunteers locally, nationally and internationally.

Merseyside's Chief Constable, Bernard Hogan-Howe (far left), visited the site on a day that AGa members were on site and is pictured here with Tom McEvoy, Paul Lester and Steve Geary.  Alf Plant and Stuart Liles are pictured fixing loft insulation.
