| 30 July 2010 Latest Phase of Restoration of Llay Miners Institute The refurbishment of the south elevation to the Llay Miners Welfare Institute has been completed and successfully handed over to the Trustees. This is the 4th Stage of a rolling programme of refurbishment for this fine Grade 2 Listed Building, built in 1929 and the last Miners Institute in North Wales still open. | March 2010 Four Projects Win Building Excellence Awards At this year’s LABC Cymru Awards Ainsley Gommon Architects were successful in winning no less than four regional awards for building excellence. Not only did our scheme of 32 new homes for Charter Housing Association in Newport, South Wales win an award, but three projects won affordable housing awards in Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham. Gorwel Newydd for Pennaf Housing, a 60 bed Extra Care scheme in Rhyl, won the category of Best Affordable Scheme in North Wales.. For details and pictures of all 4 projects here. |

| January 2010 Maplewood development completed ahead of schedule The Maplewood scheme started on site January 2009 and was completed January 2010, well ahead of schedule. The contract ran very smoothly, with targets being met ahead of program and we, the client and contractor are very pleased with the result. The project consists of 12no. houses and 29no. apartments, which have been developed by Moorlands Housing Association with the contractor Cruden Construction. The project is designed for the Code for Sustainable Homes level 3, using timber frame construction. For details and pictures click here. |

| 11 September 2009 David Ainsley Retires Ainsley Gommon Architects staff and their families, gathered in Birkenhead on 11 September to wish David Ainsley well as he retires from directorship of the practice. David was a founding partner of Innes Wilkin Ainsley Gommon in 1979, which later became Ainsley Gommon Wood, before we incorporated as the present Ainsley Gommon Architects. We are celebrating these 30 years of achievement and looking forward to the next 30, in an exhibition at 'milkandsugar', Wood Street, Liverpool from 16 November to 23 December 2009. |

We believe in having our own good environmental house keeping standards in place, before advising clients on the significance of adopting sustainable practice and designing for climate change. | 12 December 2008 Conversion of Textile Mill, Holywell Flintshire County Council recently celebrated completion of the first phase of the Holywell Townscape Heritage Initiative to restore several heritage sites in the town. | 30 September 2008 Jump Ship Rat U-51 Launched A Liverpool European Capital of Culture commission, Jump Ship Rat's U-51 boat was launched on the Albert Dock at the weekend. U-51 is a 40 metre long mobile floating waterfall and you can see it at Liverpool Albert and Salthouse at weekend afternoons and Thursday evenings until the end of October 2008. | 5 March 2008 Planning Consent for Maplewood Ainsley Gommon have been working for Moorlands Housing through the Frontis Framework, with SDA Consulting, Atkinson Peck and GB Building Solutions, on proposals to redevelop the site of an existing sheltered housing project, Maplewood Court in Macclesfield.
