Chartered Institute of Housing Exhibition 15-18 June

Rowing Club Opened by Sir Steven Redgrave
The 26th April 2004 was a proud day for the Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club when their new clubhouse was officially opened by five times gold medallist Sir Steven Redgrave. The £400,000 fit-out gives the club a gymnasium, social room, meeting room, shower and changing rooms, as well as boat storage. For more information visit www.lvrc.co.uk

Grade II Listed Statue Restored
St Winefride's Convent School, Holywell has been converted and extended into flats for Wales & West Housing Association. As part of the project the adjacent Grade II Listed statue of the Sacred Heart was temporarily removed for restoration and this familiar local landmark has now been returned to its original site.

New Office for Pentra Services, Birkenhead
£260k fit out of structural shell of a listed building to form a suite of offices and training rooms for the PSL Group. The interior combines traditional and modern materials to create a high quality contemporary working environment, planned around a linear circulation and service core.

YMCA Approved
Planning permission was granted to this new 'flagship' building to replace the existing YMCA on Whetstone Lane at Birkenhead.  This contract, valued at approx. £4.5 million will be Partnered using the PPC2000 procurement route.  The new development will contain 50 residential bedrooms with living, games and dining areas. A new community café will be located at the ground level of the feature corner community block. Above will be located a health and fitness suite, sauna and changing areas, conference and training facilities and an IT suite.  A new sports hall will provide opportunities for a whole range of sporting activities, including 5-a-side football.  It will provide a strong stimulus for the regeneration of the neighbourhood.

Birkenhead Staff Group Photo
The Birkenhead office staff packed on top of the reconstructed Twelve Quays chimney, 30 metres above the River Mersey, with the Liverpool, the City of Culture providing a backdrop. The visit was a CPD session sponsored by Kier North West, who are the contractor for the project.

Bridge Street Apartments on Site
This £1.6M Design & Built development, in-fills a tight urban site in a conservation area in Birkenhead with 20 new apartments for Pierhead Housing Association.  The landmark building, with its pivotal 6-storey drum, is flanked by listed buildings, including the attractive Waterloo Buildings.  It has been designed to take maximum advantage of the panoramic views over the Liverpool waterfront.

New school extension completed
This recently completed new extension is located to the rear of a characterful village primary school in Capenhurst and provides a new classroom, stores and secondary entrance. The site offered many challenges including an adjacent mature beech tree and restricted site access.
